CHARDHAAM

Chardhaam

The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages, coveringfour sacred shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—nestled inthe Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Each temple holds deep spiritualsignificance: Yamunotri is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, symbolizing purity;Gangotri marks the origin of the holy Ganges River; Kedarnath is one of thetwelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, believed to have been built by the Pandavas;and Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is one of the most importantVaishnavite shrines. The yatra typically commences in April/May and concludesby October/November, as the temples remain closed during winter due to heavysnowfall. The journey follows a set sequence—Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath→ Badrinath—and is believed to wash away sins, leading devotees towardsmoksha (liberation). Pilgrims undertake this challenging yet divine journey eitherby road, trekking, or opting for helicopter services. Apart from its religiousimportance, the Char Dham Yatra offers breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, gushing rivers, and serene spiritual vibes, making it a once-in-a-lifetimeexperience for devotees and adventure seekers alike.
